Photos will follow once we figure out how to post on blogger

After a harrowing experience with Air Canada we finally arrived in the old country in Rome at 6pm local time instead of the 8ntended 9am. Nonetheless the four seasoned travellers brushed it off and made our way to Assisi for a very late dinner of delicious sandwiches and red wine.
Saturday morning we were up early and enjoying a delicious breakfast and then on foot to visit the charming town of Assisi. We were impressed with its overall beauty and astounded by the many many doors, walkways and stairs. What a work out. We left Assisi and drove north towards Padova (Padua) Via Ravenna..on the way we stopped for a lovely lunch in a small town named Bagno Romania. Although the server spoke little English and no French we managed, as we always do, to make ourselves understood. The food was delicious, as was the house white.

Ravenna is the home of mosaic artwork, and it lives up to its name, the Basillica di San Vitale, it’s moselium as well as the Basilica di san Apollinare nuovo were spectacular examples.
From Ravenna we drove to our new home for the next week, in Padova. Our hosts Nicoletta and Ferruccio were charming and full of energy and enthusiasm as well as information. Based on their recommendation we dined out at La Vigna where the four of us enjoyed delicious local cuisine, and a bottle of Valpolicella Superiore. A wonderful end to our first two days in Italy...ciao for now
